i got this happening
seems anet doesn't tend to care much about euro players
first the event weekend and now this while i went VQ'ing

We all know ArenaNet's network is not perfect. There have been several occasions where entire regions have been unable to connect to Guild Wars at all. There are many different reasons for this. Sometimes (usually with advance notice) it is server maintenance. Sometimes it is a minor link in the chain going down somewhere between the end user and ANet. This takes time to diagnose and more time to fix. And yes, sometimes it is that cleaning lady with her vacuum cleaner.

It is a good thing to report this, however it is a bad thing to have multiple threads opening up in various sections of this Forum all saying the same thing.

In future cases of ANet non-availability, it would be appreciated if you report it in this thread, rather than make a new one.

Yup I'm getting this error code as well now
Was ok a few hours ago then loged out for a while but now when i try and login i get to my chars screen OK
but selecting any of them to play I get the 040 or 004 code.
So I can't even change dist to see if it solves the problem.

Still doing it here. For the last maybe hour my messages in chat have either taken 5+mins to show up or have not shown up at all, yet others can read them. Now i'm getting code=040's all over the place and can't log in. Less than impressive.

Log in, then try to open chars. THen poof. Code=040.

Yeah. This has started happening to me. Just log out and stay logged out, hopefully we will get word on the problem soon, and still have an account to login to.

Getting it again can't get past the char screen and using the Test my Computer button on main screen
the last 3 hops to xxxx-xxx-xxx-xxx.plaync.com
I'm getting 100% Loss rest is fine

EDIT
Tested again its last 3 hops are 60% to 90% loss now

1 is in Guild Hall
1 is in Random Arena's

Both are Europe Servers

At first i got in during Arenas and Challanges.
Now i can't get past the Character log in screen...

This is what, second or third time this month the servers are having issues!?

Lol - sorry for my original post; there was only the scathing OP when I posted it. This forum suffers from lag too, y'know (database maintenance and whatnot.)

Yes, we're all fed up with the 040s and random disconnects lately, but do we really need a new thread every time it happens? As for the statement "I've paid for this game so I have the right to complain", yes; that's very true. But we are not ArenaNet. We are Guild Wars Guru and we are a fan site. This particular section is a technical forum where we try to help people with hard- and software problems. With ANet server-related problems, there is nothing we can do or suggest.

Anet rarely speaks openly upon issue's the less people know they have issue's the better, which is rather annoying to the users as they rarely ever get an update on the situation and therefor are badly informed, best bet we have is to count on people like Martin that have a look around once a while and brief us on the issue's.

Nevertheless seems Anet currently doesn't have the proper support for the Euro datastream/servers and appearently this is causing a lot of issue's lately.

I certainly hope they'll fix/invest in this issue to at least ensure a stable product and not one where the customor is stacked up with problems that Anet rather keeps hidden.

Furthermore i think Anet should realise this isn't good promotion and definitly doesn't help them with binding future clients for GWII.
